September 11 - New Parent Orientation

If you are a new parent in the St. Albert the Great Cub Scout Pack 327, or if you're interested in joining us, we invite you to attend the New Parent Orientation meeting on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 7:00 PM in Hendricks Hall (the kindergarten building behind the school).

St. Albert the Great is located at 1395 Girard Drive, Louisville, KY 40222.

We're still accepting new applications for all boys, grades one through five, who are interestged in the fun and exciting world of Scouting. Families do NOT have to be members of the St. Albert the Great parish or have children in the school to join our Pack. All are welcome!

September 4 - New Scout Signup Night

May 15 - Pack 327 Crossover Ceremony

The May Pack Meeting is the Annual Pack 327 Crossover Ceremony. All of the boys will be crossing over into their new ranks.

Here are the details.

Date/Time: Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 7:00 PM
Location: St. Albert Courtyard (near the Flag Pole)

We will have a cake to celebrate afterward. Please bring a two-liter drink to share.

If you still have any Camp Cards or money to turn in, please bring them with you.

May 17-19 - Spring Pack Camp Out

Our final Pack event for the school-year will be the Spring Pack Camp Out from Friday, May 17, to Sunday, May 19.  We will be camping out again at the Sycamore Springs Park, located at 717 West Tunnel Hill Road in English, IN.

You may camp out Friday night, Saturday night, or both nights.  There is no charge for camping, and firewood will be provided.

You will need to provide your own tent and sleeping supplies, along with your own food and drinks (and anything you might need to prepare your food).  There will be a campfire in the evening.

Here's a list of some other things you might not want to forget:
  • Scout uniform shirt (we will have a flag retirement ceremony after sundown)
  • Camp chairs
  • Flashlights
  • Extra clothes
  • Towels (where there is water, there will be wet Scouts)
  • Outdoor games/activities/sporting equipment
  • Leave the electronics at home (or in the car)!

You will be able to park and unpack your car at the campsite, so speaking from experience, it is much better to have too much than not enough!

Finally, the Boy Scouts of America have a few rules that we must always enforce on any overnight Scout event:
  • No alcohol or tobacco products are allowed.  If you must use tobacco, please do so out of site of any kids other than your own.
  • No youth is permitted to sleep in the tent of an adult other than his or her own parent or guardian.
  • One-on-one contact between adults and Scouts is prohibited.  There must be at least two adults present when you are with any child other than your own.

April Pack Meeting - Raingutter Regatta

Its time for the Raingutter Regatta! This is a for-fun race; we won't be doing any official timing. There will be two sets of gutters setup for the boys to race as much as they want during the meeting.

Date/Time: Wednesday, April 17, 7 PM
Location: St. Albert Visitation Hall

This month's meeting will be an "Open House" for the boys in kindergarten to help spark their interest in Scouting.  Any kindergarten boys who attend the meeting will be able to race one of the boats!

If you don't have a boat kit yet, email Alex Kuprion and he can arrange a time to get you a kit.

March Pack Meeting

Raptors are back!



Raptor Rehab of Kentucky will be back for our March pack meeting. This is a great meeting where the boys will get up close with birds from Raptor Rehab of Kentucky.

Location: St. Albert Visitation Hall

Raingutter Regatta boats will be handed out at this meeting.

2013 Summer Camps

Reminder about camp this summer. I think the summer camps are the best part of cub scouts, for both parents and the kids. I highly encourage attending.

The Day Camp will be June 24 to 28 at the Masonic Homes of Louisville. Early registration is April 12, 2013. The kids have a lot of fun and if any of the parents can volunteer they will have a lot of fun as well.

Webelos Resident camp will be at Tunnel Mill the following dates:

June 27, 2013 - June 30, 2013
June 30, 2013 - July 3, 2013
July 11, 2013 - July 14, 2013

They are also holding two dates in July at Crooked creek and Roy C. Manchester.

The Webelos Resident camp is open to kids going into their first Webelos year and those entering their Webelos II year. It is a lot of fun and they will achieve a lot of the requirements for the Arrow of Light. A parent attends as well. Highly recommended for all Webelos. The staff does a great job. I recommend earlier to avoid the July heat.

2013 Camp Cards

We just got confirmation that the 2013 Camp Cards are now available. This year, we are going to kick off the sale at the Fish Fry this Friday, March 1. We will have a table at the back of the Fish Fry. Please click on the link below to sign up.

If you are unfamiliar, camp cards are sold for $5.00 each. They have a number of discounts (for example $5.00 off of $75 at Kroger, 20% off at Quest Outdoors). The Pack keeps $2.50 from each card, the Council gets the other portion.

Cards will be available to take to sell as well at the March pack meeting.

Pack 327 Pinewood Derby 2013

The Packe 327 Pinewood Derby 2013 is on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Please see below for the times for each Den. Friday, January 25, 2013, from 7 to 8PM the track will be available for test runs.

If there is an individual conflict, the boys can either check the car in themselves or have someone else check it to have it run with others in the Den.

This event requires a lot of volunteers to make sure it goes smoothly. Please click the following link to volunteer.
